Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I'm reading the House of Niccolo series by Dorothy Dunnett. It is a series of eight books, YIKES! It was a bit of a slog the first four chapters and then I got very interested. She wrote another series The Lymond Chronicles, IIRC, which I've heard good things about. Maybe next year when I'm done with Niccolo, lol.
